Over the past several months we’ve been researching and developing a new 1-page checkout that streamlines the checkout experience. This new checkout is available in 5 brand new themes (Slate, Tanto, Hype, Mker and Coffree) that are now available to all LemonStand customers.
This new checkout experience offers your business a number of benefits that we’d like to tell you about.
Easy checkout experience for your customers

I love that quote. It’s especially appropriate for eCommerce businesses. Your checkout experience needs to be simple, without being dumbed down too far, where it creates hurdles. It’s a balancing act, and we think that we’ve found it with our new 1-page checkout experience.
We spent a lot of time working through what was necessary (and what wasn’t) through research, talking with customers, testing and more testing.
Here’s some things we did to make it east for your customers:
- Instead of presenting all the information on the page at once, we’ve broken it up into 3 easy sections. Customers can easily progress through each section, and nothing feels overwhelming.
- The shipping address mirrors the billing, if the checkbox is selected (it is by default).
- Your customers can use their web browser’s back button, and it will take them through the steps (even though they are all on 1 page).
- A payment method and shipping method are selected by default to reduce the needed clicks.
Displaying information clearly during the checkout experience is very important. You need to remind the customer what the order total is, make the shipping rates and taxes clear.
LemonStand’s new checkout experiences makes it easy for customers to see what they’re ordering with the mini-cart that’s visible at all times. The shipping fees and taxes are also easy to see at a quick glance.
We’ve also made it very clear as to what sections there are in the checkout, with obvious visual cues indicating which sections have already been completed.
It’s also important to reinforce trust in your brand during the checkout. Customers can get nervous typing their credit card number into a website.
Since the checkout is customizable in LemonStand, you can add your phone number and trust seals into the the checkout page where you see fit.
Amazing checkout experience on every device
eMarketer predicts that by 2016, people will spend $87 billion on mobile devices, which is 25% of all eCommerce spending. But, there’s more to the story. Research shows that customers often look for products from their mobile devices first, only to come back and complete the purchase from their computer later on.
This is why we made sure LemonStand’s 1-page checkout experience worked great on every device from mobile phones to tablets and everything in between. It’s responsive, and will adapt to any screen size, present or future.
We paid attention to details, such as invoking the number keypad when the credit card number field is active for mobile devices.
More customization than you’ll find anywhere else
Like everything in LemonStand, the checkout process is customizable. LemonStand is one of the only eCommerce platforms to allow brands to customize the checkout process, and this is no different.
You can fully customize the CSS to change the design, and we even include some basic options that you can customize right through the editor, for each theme. Here’s an example from the slate theme:
Beyond that, you can even add things like trust seals, or make major changes to the HTML and CSS. It’s up to you.
Test & optimize for more sales
Your checkout page is arguably the most important page of your online store. Every business is different, therefore what works for you might not work for another business. That’s why LemonStand strongly believes you should have the ability to customize and A/B test your checkout process, in order to provide the absolute best experience to your customers, which will drive more sales for your business.
Other platforms take this freedom away from you, making it impossible to A/B test the checkout… or customize it at all for that matter. This is a lost opportunity for you to grow your sales through optimization.
Some platforms even redirect your customers to a different website address like checkout.cartify.com, which is a confusing experience, and then charge up to $999/month to not redirect customers.
