Long time LemonStand customer and UK brewer Wadworth & Co worked with LemonStand agency partner Resolution Design on a major redesign and launched an all new online store in 2017. They made the move from a LemonStand’s now discontinued server platform to Lemonstand’s fast growing cloud-based software-as-a-service platform to ensure their technology stack was always up to date and secure. They also wanted to stay focused on branding, design, merchandising and growing their online sales without the overhead of managing hosting, servers and infrastructure. We interviewed Mark Daniels, Digital Strategies Manager for Wadworth, to learn more.
Introduce Wadworth and tell us your story
“Wadworth & Co is a regional family brewer in the UK, and we have been brewing in the picturesque market town of Devizes since 1875. In 1885 we built a new brewery building to cope with rising demand and we still brew from this same building today. In addition to the brewing business, we own over 200 pubs, all selling fantastic Wadworth ales including our flagship beer: 6X. Our beers are also sold through other pub businesses and off licenses throughout the UK and are available to buy via our LemonStand powered online shop. “
How are you growing your online sales? What marketing and growth strategies and/or tactics are working for you?
“We are using LemonStand as our eCommerce platform, working with our partners Resolution Design, also based in Devizes, to help maintain the look and feel of our shop and keep within our brand guidelines. We have been developing a strong online strategy through digital marketing campaigns and make full use of social media platforms.
Facebook’s publishing tools allow us to also list and attach items that are within our shop straight in to posts we create, allowing readers of our social content to not only enjoy the content but also click straight through to buy items that they may have seen within a post, an image or a video.”
How do you handle things like customer service, shipping, fulfillment, etc. Are there any tools you’re using that help?
“All customer service, shipping and fulfilment for our online orders is handled in-house at our dedicated visitor centre, where customers are also able to purchase directly and take a tour of the brewery and meet our working shire horses: Max, Archie and Sam.”
What is your overall impression of LemonStand?
“LemonStand is an easy to use platform that has helped us bring a traditional business in to the 21st Century.”
What are some of your favorite features of LemonStand and why?
“The at-a-glance reporting is really valuable to let us see quickly how well the store has been performing and it helped us identify an issue with our shipping fees when we spotted the values being lost in cart abandonment. Further analysis showed that the abandonment was occurring when shipping fees were applied.”
Would you recommend LemonStand to others who need an eCommerce site? Why?
“Yes, we would wholeheartedly recommend LemonStand to others. We have been using LemonStand for many years and have found it to be a valuable tool in our online growth.”
